Washington State (@2.7) vs Utah (@1.44)

Our Prediction:

Utah will win

Washington State – Utah Match Prediction | 28-09-2019 22:00

I also dont think this Cougars team is as good as their 3-1 record would lead you to believe. As for Washington State, I think they will have a tough time here rebounding from that crushing loss to USC last week. On top of all that, I think this is an ideal bounce back spot for Utah off that loss to Washington and no question this team is going to be out for revenge from last years loss at home to the Cougars.

Utah can get back to .500 in Pac-12 play when they host the Washington State Cougars on Sunday night. The Cougars have struggled since beginning the season 6-0 that included wins over Saint Marys and San Diego State. The Utah Utes offense failed to show up in their Los Angeles trip last weekend, falling to both USC and UCLA, but can bounce back with a two-game sweep of the Washington schools on Sunday. Utahwas scorched for a combined 167 points by UCLA and USC, including a combined 26-of-52 performance from 3-point range as their skid hit four games. Thursday was a different story in a 70-62 win over the Huskies at home as Washington shot only 38.5% from the field, including 2-of-18 beyond the arc, and finished with their second-lowest single-game scoring output of the season. Washington State is 3-9 since and are coming off an 82-73 setback at Colorado on Thursday, dropping them into a last place tie with California.Utah has won eight of 10, including seven straight, in the series since joining the Pac-12 in 2011.

Utah State Vs Wake Forrest Preview and Prediction

Washington States only Pac-12 win came against those Golden Bears, 78-53 on January 13th, but were unable to carry that momentum forward. Guards Vionte Daniels and Carter Skaggs combined for 35 points including 11-for-20 from 3-point range in the game, but leading scorers Robert Franks (17.7 points) and Malachi Flynn (14.8) combined for only 13 points of 5-of-18 shooting, and eight personal fouls. After Washington States 15-of-34 3-point shooting performance against the Buffaloes, they have taken over the national lead with an average of 12.1 made 3s per game. Despite Franks team-high eight rebounds, the Cougars finished with a 39-29 deficit Thursday and rank next to last in the conference with a -1.8 rebound margin.

Expect a close one in Winston-Salem with the Aggies prevailing. This is a game that im very interested to watch as Wake Forrest, who is a favorite i might add is no team that will just get beat around as they host one of the nations top group of 5 teams. Jamie Newman and Jordan Love is one of the better QB match-ups on of the weekend but i trust the Aggies defense more to get a stop than Dave Clawsons unit late in the game. Utah State has a phenomenal offensive and defensive group but the Demon Deacons have a quite talented roster themselves and predicting how they will play in this game is tough.

The Utes are ranked 40th in the S&P+ overall rankings. Huntley has split time with Troy Williams but this seems like Huntleys job at this point. Utah has Tyler Huntley throwing the football for them. The Utes also have running back Zach Moss who has rushed for 740 yards and five touchdowns with 5.4 yards per carry. Huntley has thrown for 1600+ yards and 12 touchdowns with six interceptions. Hes also rushed for 381 yards and three scores as well.

Vegas Game Preview & Free ATS Pick: Washington State vs Utah

In fact, Utahs streak is probably more impressive since they did it after quarterback Tyler Huntley and running back Zack Moss were lost to season-ending injuries. They have also given the Utes a chance to win a conference championship for the first time since winning the Mountain West in 2008. The Utes, meanwhile, also head to the Pac-12 Championship Game on the heels of a three-game winning streak. Those wins have Utah in the Pac-12 title game for the first time since joining the league in 2011. Without those two, the Utes managed to beat Oregon, Colorado, and BYU to close out the regular season.

Sophomore WR Sage Surratt (481 Yards and 4 Touchdowns) and Scottie Washington will load up on the stat sheet this fall as they get more involved in the offense. The Demon Deacons offense in 2019 is a unit to watch and it all starts at the QB position as the battle between Sam Hartman and Jamie Newman is an important one. Matt Wells is off to Texas Tech but leaves behind a a stout offensive group fresh off a marvelous season. Hartman was solid at times as he finished his Freshman season with 1,984 yards and 16 touchdown (8 INTs) in 9 games but Newman posses more of a threat as as both a passer and runner and put that on display in the final game of the year versus Memphis as he tossed for 328 yards and 1 score while rushing for 91 yards and another 3 scores. This passing attack wasnt the only part of this offense that made noise last fall but Seniors Darwin Thompson and Gerold Bright combined for over 200 yards per game, posting 1,044 and 888 yards respectively with double digit touchdown figures for both. Thompson also happens to be the teams top lead returning pass catcher as the Aggies top three from a year ago depart. TE Dax Raymond is one of the nations top TEs and help aleave the pressure of finding suitable replacements in the receiving corps. The Aggies put up 47.5 points per game last season with the guidance of QB Jordan Love who improved heavily compared to his freshman season as he tossed for 3,567 yards and 32 touchdowns with only 6 INTs last fall. Who ever gets the nod will have a solid supporting cast around them as RB Cade Carney is fresh off a 1,005 yard, 6 touchdown season after slitting carries but will assume the full lead back role.

Hopefully, for the Cougars, they have recovered from that contest in time for their road meeting against the Utah Utes. Washington State Cougars are coming off an insane game against the UCLA Bruins in Week 4. Both teams are likely to drop out of the Top 25 AP Poll rankings, so this will be an all-out fight between programs wanting to get back into the CFP race.

AP Poll

I think this will be a breakout game for the Utes offensively, as Im just not all that impressed with Washington States defense. I know Utahs offense hasnt exactly been lighting up the scoreboard, but a lot of that has to do with the fact that they have played a really good defense in Northern Illinois and an elite defense in Washington. I just dont think its asking a lot for Utah to win here by a field goal and I wouldnt be shocked at all if this turned into a blowout. Give me the Utes -2.5.

Guard Justin Bibbins (14.3 points) had a game-high 20 points against Washington and has scored 12 or more in eighth straight games. Senior forward David Collette (13.5), forwards Donnie Tillman (10.5) and Tyler Rawson (10.4) and guard Sedrick Barefield (10.4) also have double-digit averages, while Bibbins is averaging a team-high 4.7 assists. Utah is a strong rebounding team with Rawson (6.3), Tillman (6.2) and Jayce Johnson (6.0) all averaging at least six rebounds per game, but are allowing too many boards on the other end of the floor and have an overall rebounding margin of -0.2.

Backup running back Armand Shyne hasnt been quite as impressive, but hes gotten the tough yards and found the end zone a few times. Redshirt freshman quarterback Jason Shelley hasnt been perfect, but hes avoided turnovers and has thrown three touchdown passes while rushing for three more touchdowns in his three starts. To be fair, Utah has handled the loss of Huntley and Moss better than almost any other team in the country would losing their quarterback and running back.

Big 12

Falk looks for Martin in crunch situations, and Falk himself has thrown for 2,913 yards and 26 touchdowns with only eight interceptions. Utah will have to slow down Tavares Martin Jr, the wide receiver the Cougs rely on the most. If the Wazzou offense is on top of its game this is an easy win. However, the point spread is 1.5 points in favor of the visiting Cougars. has 8 touchdown receptions on the 2017 season. Martin Jr.

I think this is the perfect spot to jump on the Utes for alot of reasons. I would have to lean towards laying the 2.5-points with Utah in this one. The biggest being that Utah is coming off a bye.
