Oklahoma State (@1.12) vs Tulsa (@6.0)

Our Prediction:

Oklahoma State will win

Oklahoma State – Tulsa Match Prediction | 14-09-2019 15:30

Its that time of year again, the one we all have been waiting for, the beginning of college football. Week 1 gets kicked off on Thursday and while there arent any big match ups there are plenty of big time programs on the schedule. Last week was a soft opening of sorts with just enough games to wet your appetite for more football.

I respect Montgomery and think he is a big-time coach. OSU annihilated them. It was a 2011-esque first half throttling. If Tulsa still had Dane Evans at quarterback this would be a much closer game. The offense will do its thing but I think the defense is the story of the game. That said, Tulsa is a much better program in 2017. I remember the 2010 Tulsa game well TU was up and coming, and several Tulsa media members were picking them to beat OSU that season. They will display the speed and athleticism acquired through the past few recruiting cycles.

After we got a collective one (!) point last week as OSU went black-gray-gray against McNeese, well get at least triple that this week with OSU going on the road at Tulsa and guaranteed to wear the white jerseys. After that, who knows? Here are our predictions for OSUs last non-conference game of the season against the Golden Hurricane.

It's all you're going to hear about until this team gives you a reason not to anymore. Oklahoma State: The road to the College Football Playoff as a non-traditional power starts here for Oklahoma State. There will be a lot of attention on the offense, quarterback Mason Rudolph and receiver James Washington. You will hear a lot about how this is the best team coach Mike Gundy has had since 2011. The Cowboys aren't preseason Big 12 favorites -- Oklahoma is -- but they certainly have been the trendy offseason team of the Washington ilk.

Are they playing smart or making mistakes? Do they take care of business on defense or are they getting beat? That's going to separate them from fun nine- or 10-win team to a legitimate top-five team. But if Oklahoma State is really going to take that next step, the defense is going to be the side to watch.

That said, I think they will get behind the chains on a number of drives and OSU will (and should) have their way on offense. To be honest, Im just as excited to see Tulsas offense as OSUs; it will be one of the only (if not THE only) remnant of Baylor that we will see this season. Tulsas offense is plug-and-play by nature, and they still have a talented running back in Brewer.

While everyone is gushing all over Jalen Hurts and Oklahoma, and wondering whether or not Texas is back, or close to it, the Cowboys are looking every bit the part so far with Spencer Sanders coming up with a huge start at quarterback, RB Chuba Hubbard about to be a much bigger thing once he gets a look on a bigger stage in a bigger game, and the receiving corps especially Tylan Wallace is as good as any in America.

It's Week 1. Everyone needs to shake off the rust a little bit. It wouldn't be all that surprising if Tulsa came out swinging and put a score on the board first to inject a little adrenaline into Oklahoma State's veins. Gundy's team has been good vs. The Cowboys have so much firepower, though, and should be more than enough to get a win in Week 1.

Oklahoma State to Wear Helmet Decals for 2019 Season to Honor T. Boone Pickens

I dont think Mason Rudolph will see enough playing time to be player of the game, and I expect to see Corn Dog for most of the second half. I think Ramon will start his bag year off right by getting the first of his six interceptions I need him to get this season in his return to safety. Offense should flow in a Pokes route of Tulsa.

Tulsa:After breaking through with a 10-win season in 2016, the Golden Hurricane are in rebuilding mode. Philip Montgomery's team ranks among the lowest in the FBS in returning production; however, Mongtomery is a coach on the rise and this is now Year 3 in his system. If the new set of starters show they have what it takes to compete with the likes of Oklahoma State, the drop-off may not be as steep as originally predicted (media projected Tulsa would finish fourth in the AAC West).

game. Out is the cue ball-white OSU, and in is the white brand with the paisley stripe running down the middle. I think they run it back this week with the same combo but a different helmet. Kyle Porter (WWB): OSU went WWB last time they played in Tulsa in that wild 3 a.m. I sustain my lead for another week as both us and the Pokes head into conference play.
